The cooperation program Interreg VI A Brandenburg – Poland 2021–2027
European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) - better known as “Interreg” - has been one of the key instruments of the European Union (EU) since 1990.
The Interreg program is about cooperation between European municipalities, regions and countries, as well as with the European Union's immediate neighbors. Its main goal is to ensure that national borders are not an obstacle to sustainable development and European integration.
Interreg is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It has a budget of €9 billion to be invested in various programs over the period 2021-2027. The cross-border-oriented Interreg A programs support the development of economic and social cooperation in neighboring regions by financing cross-border projects with EU funds. Three such programs are being implemented in the Polish-German border region, including the “Interreg Brandenburg-Poland 2021-2027” program.
Under the Program, it is possible to implement projects in four priorities, to which seven specific objectives are assigned. These objectives were identified on the basis of a socio-economic analysis, an analysis of strengths and weaknesses, as well as opportunities and threats. The defined priorities and specific objectives are intended to respond to the most important common challenges in the Polish-Brandenburg border region.
Priority 3: Attractive borderland - education, culture and tourism (our project Inwertsetzung Parkverbund)
Specific Objective 4.6: Strengthen the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation
Under this objective, projects can be implemented to improve the cross-border use of existing cultural and tourism offers and to support the creation of new offers arising from the cross-border networking of existing offers. In addition, projects can be implemented here for the cross-border exchange of knowledge and competencies, the further development of thematic networks, and the networking of cultural and tourism entities.
